Requirements
  • Must possess a Registered Nurse nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have at least three years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
  • Must be certified in infection control.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure that effective infection control and wound care programs are maintained.
  • Inform nursing service personnel about new admissions, expected arrival times, and room assignments.
  • Ensure direct nursing care is provided by qualified licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants, or nurse aide trainees.
  • Schedule daily rounds to observe residents and determine whether nursing needs are being met, making rounds with physicians as necessary.
  • Identify, manage, and treat pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, and traumatic or complicated wounds.
  • Provide wound care to assigned residents in accordance with physician orders, manufacturer recommendations, and appropriate techniques.
  • Complete weekly wound rounds with the wound care provider.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the infection control program for monitoring communicable and infectious diseases among residents and personnel.
  • Ensure facility compliance with current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and local infection-control regulations concerning standard and universal precautions.
  • Develop and implement a system for detecting, evaluating, recording, and reporting infections originating with facility personnel.
  • Assist in coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of residents’ total care regimen.
  • Rotate on call for floor coverage and clinical triage.
  • Provide floor coverage as needed.
