P&G wins member of the year in 2026 alliance for Water Efficiency awards. The Happi Top 50 Company partnered with AWE to complete a comprehensive review of data to capture the water savings potential of washing dishes with a machine. August 19, 2026 Associate Editor, Happi Each year, the AWE recognizes the individuals and organizations whose leadership, innovation and commitment are helping advance water efficiency and conservation across North America. The Illinois-based nonprofit's annual awards celebrate the many ways AWE members are making an impact, from advancing water-efficient practices and policies to developing new approaches for stewarding our limited water resources. "I was honored to accept the award on behalf of P&G at the annual Water Efficiency and Conservation Symposium in Chicago," said Shannon Quinn, global water stewardship leader at P&G. "To me, this recognition reflects the power of partnership. Advancing water efficiency takes credible science, practical innovation and collaboration across sectors. AWE has been an important partner in connecting the dots and helping move this important work forward." Since joining AWE in 2020, P&G, which made Fortune's 100 Most Innovative Companies List, has been an active member of the Business and Industry Committee and present at the annual Symposium. The company has recently spearheaded and funded two research projects in partnership with AWE. Last fall, the nonprofit released "Advancing Sustainability through Household Consumer Products: Guidance & Insights for Estimating and Communicating Water Savings" with P&G and Bluerisk. This resource provides a practical framework for companies, practitioners and researchers to consistently estimate and communicate water savings from household consumer products and campaigns. This year, AWE partnered with P&G to complete a comprehensive review of the best available data to capture the water savings potential of washing dishes with a machine versus handwashing at the sink. The common wisdom is that machine washing is more water efficient, but there is limited published data to support this claim. AWE completed a literature review and P&G shared their own research and results for us to review and assess the rigor of their study parameters and conclusions. This work will inform a white paper and a technical paper planned for release this summer, representing the most comprehensive published review of this topic.
Diageo appoints former P&G Beauty CEO Alex Keith as non-executive director. By Michelle Perrett 18-Aug-2026 Last updated on 18-Aug-2026 at 09:00 GMT Diageo has appointed the former CEO of Proctor & Gamble to its board as non-exec director. Alex Keith, who has more than 35 years of international consumer goods experience, is expected to join the board on 5 November 2026 subject to shareholder approval. Most recently, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Procter & Gamble's Beauty business. During her tenure, Diageo said she "drove meaningful growth through innovation, portfolio development, strategic acquisitions and organisational transformation." Diageo said that she also has extensive international leadership experience across North America, Europe and Asia, with expertise in general management, consumer products, brand building, supply chain and enterprise leadership. She also has a strong track record of "building global brands, scaling complex businesses and creating long-term shareholder value through innovation, disciplined execution and portfolio strategy," the spirits company said. Since 2020, she has served as a non-executive director of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a major US-based life sciences company. Diageo Chair, Sir John Manzoni, said: "I am delighted Alex has agreed to join the Diageo Board. She brings recent chief executive experience in the consumer goods industry, leading and transforming branded businesses, and shaping portfolios to respond to consumer trends, including in the US. "We are looking forward to welcoming Alex to the Board, as part of our continuing process to build out the expertise of the Diageo Board to help drive the transformation and improved competitiveness of the business." Her appointment is subject to the approval of shareholders at the Annual General Meeting, where she will join the Board and become a member of the Board's Remuneration and Nomination Committees. The news comes as Diageo recently revealed it is conducting a $1.2bn restructuring programme to deliver $850 million savings over two years. Sales declines have hit North America and Asia Pacific, although Guinness, Smirnoff RTD and Johnnie Walker were highlighted as stand out performers.
A $920,000 portfolio of six blue-chip dividend stocks can generate approximately $54,000 in annual income whilst avoiding high-yield traps that erode capital over time, according to a recent analysis. The portfolio comprises five Dividend Kings or Aristocrats alongside one real estate investment trust. Johnson & Johnson yields roughly 2.3% after raising its dividend for the 64th consecutive year. Procter & Gamble offers about 3% after its 70th straight annual increase. Coca-Cola yields 2.5%, McDonald's approximately 2.6%, and PepsiCo close to 3.8% following its recent 4% hike. Realty Income provides the highest yield at 5.2%, having paid 670 consecutive monthly dividends whilst maintaining 99% portfolio occupancy. The strategy prioritises dividend growth over immediate high yields, which often signal unsustainable payouts from leveraged funds or mortgage REITs facing distribution cuts.
