- Ten or more years of relevant work experience, including experience as an Information System Security Officer, Information System Security Manager, Security Control Assessor, Security Control Assessor Representative, or similar roles.
- Mastery of the NIST Risk Management Framework, including all seven steps and in-depth knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-53 security controls and their application to complex government information systems.
- Comprehensive technical understanding and practical experience with Windows and Linux operating systems hardening (including Security Technical Implementation Guides), network protocols (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems and intrusion prevention systems, cloud security (Federal Information Security Management Act authorization, Amazon Web Services/ Azure Government Cloud), virtualization, and database security.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning (AC Actionable Cybersecurity Assessment System/Tenable.sc/Nessus), configuration assessment (Security Content Automation Protocol/ STIG tools), and log analysis/security information and event management platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic Stack) to identify and evaluate security posture.
- Expert-level knowledge of Department of Defense or agency-specific security requirements (e.g., DoD Instruction 8500.01, Committee on National Security Systems 1253), Information Assurance Vulnerability Managements, and STIG implementation/verification.
- Proven ability to develop and review System Security Plans, write comprehensive Security Assessment Reports, and manage Plans of Action and Milestones.
- Strong capability in analyzing control effectiveness, identifying critical risks, and articulating residual risk to Authorizing Officials.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.
- Obtain and maintain Authority to Operate approvals for AFNWC weapon subsystems and supporting information technology systems by adhering to the Risk Management Framework.
- Review, assess, and provide advice and recommendations to the Security Control Assessor or Authorizing Official throughout the RMF process for assigned programs.
- Develop and review System Security Plans and write comprehensive Security Assessment Reports.
- Manage Plans of Action and Milestones to address identified vulnerabilities and findings.
- Collaborate with Security Controls Assessors, Information System Security Managers, Program Managers, and Authority representatives to ensure RMF compliance.
- This on-site position requires presence on Hill Air Force Base five days per week.
