Software Engineer III

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 2 years of experience with software development in C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies.
• Experience designing and developing relational databases, database internals, query processing and query optimization.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  
• Experience in implementing software stack responsible for large scale data processing systems or large scale database systems at scale.
• Experience in one or more of Google Cloud Big Data products (Dataflow, BigQuery, Dataproc, etc) or open source or proprietary equivalents (Apache Hadoop, Spark, Beam, etc)

The Data Platform team is responsible for processing exabytes of data at planetary scale. This includes processing data in real time (streaming), semi-real time, and providing data intelligence to the customers. Our team is focused on the customers and strives hard to exceed customer expectations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
