Responsibilities
  • Provide didactic and clinical instruction in the BSN program, clinically-focused Master of Science in Nursing programs, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program, including simulated clinical experiences in laboratory environments, with teaching conducted virtually or in-person
  • Teach in one or more courses within a single term; assignments reflect clinical instruction within the adjunct's area of clinical specialization
  • Develop and implement instructional strategies including traditional lectures or seminars as well as distributed media for synchronous or asynchronous delivery
  • Evaluate student competencies, student satisfaction with the teaching/learning experience, and peer feedback of teaching, along with other evidence of student outcomes
  • Meet regularly with full-time faculty assigned to lead the course or participate in the faculty team and/or the assistant/associate dean
  • Identify agency partners for meaningful clinical placements and assist in evaluating clinical sites and MOUs with clinical agencies
  • Be physically present in clinical facilities to provide adequate and safe instructional oversight and to meet expectations of clinical partners and the Texas Board of Nursing
  • For undergraduate clinical experiences involving preceptorships, meet in person periodically with the student and preceptor to evaluate the quality of the experience and the student’s proficiency
  • Review the College of Nursing’s philosophy, goals, instructional objectives and performance expectations with students; assist full-time faculty in identifying congruence with clinical agency across these aspects of the programs
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required; a Doctor of Nursing Practice or related field preferred
  • Previous teaching experience such as hospital staff development or clinical education preferred
  • Certification in a clinical specialty is highly preferred
