  • Current Alabama physical therapist assistant or occupational therapist assistant licensure, maintained in active status and good standing with the licensing agency.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to analyze patient data to determine patient needs or treatment goals.
  • Ability to enter patient or treatment data into computers.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to plan or provide treatment.
  • Normal or correctable vision and hearing.
  • Careful attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Reliability, responsibility, dependability, and fulfillment of obligations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and pleasantly with others.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care to patients under the supervision of a physical or occupational therapist.
  • Review relevant clinical data.
  • Collaborate and coordinate patient care plans with patients, families, and other care providers.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures for clients as outlined in the patient's plan of care.
  • Participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency.
  • Complete all documentation requirements within the established time frame.
  • Communicate with the therapist as needed regarding patient needs and goals.
  • Attend in-service programs and departmental or hospital meetings.
  • Share experience by mentoring students, new employees, and volunteers and presenting in-service programs.
  • Maintain involvement in department and hospital activities.
  • Provide feedback to the manager.
  • Assist in departmental planning, staff training, performance improvement, and clinical service development.
  • Assist with departmental productivity by fulfilling individual work responsibilities and reporting significant variances in patient volume that may require manager adjustments to staffing.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Perform compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards and DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Use electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Tolerate exposure to human bodily fluids, disease, infection, and hazardous materials while using required protective or safety equipment.
  • Perform physical activities including talking, hearing, bending, twisting, walking, running, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, repetitive motion, standing, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
