Requirements
  • Excellent in at least one technical area and genuinely comfortable working outside it, with the ability to become productive quickly in unfamiliar parts of the stack.
  • Fluency with coding agents as a default way of working, including specific workflows, failure modes, and shipped work using agents.
  • A working mental model of how large language models and agents work, including why they fail, how to evaluate them, and how to make non-deterministic systems dependable.
  • Strong engineering judgment, including critically reading unfamiliar code, identifying when an agent has gone off track, and recognizing sound architecture.
  • Enthusiasm about artificial intelligence and its applications in software development and beyond.
  • Availability for on-site collaboration at least three days per week in Berlin or Bremen, with travel to the Bremen headquarters during onboarding.
  • Fluency in English at least at the B2 level.
  • Valid European Union work authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Use agentic coding tools such as Claude and Codex to build, evaluate, and harden production agents, then incorporate the learnings into improved tooling and stronger agents.
  • Work across the frontend, backend, infrastructure, data, and artificial intelligence layers.
  • Build and ship production artificial intelligence agents, taking them from prototype to production through orchestration, tool use, real-world inputs, reliability, and auditability.
  • Own systems end-to-end from an undefined problem through design, development, deployment, and ongoing operation.
  • Understand distributed systems behavior, infrastructure, and how large language models and agents work in order to debug complex issues and make sound decisions under uncertainty.
  • Test new tools and model releases early and translate effective approaches into team development practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Depth in one area that complements the breadth, such as distributed systems, infrastructure/DevOps, full-stack, or applied artificial intelligence/large language models.
  • Experience building agent systems, including orchestration, tool use, evaluation, or agent frameworks.
  • Experience taking artificial intelligence from prototype to production, not just demos.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, banking, or the public sector, or other compliance-heavy domains.
  • German language skills.
  • Open-source contributions or public writing on agents, applied artificial intelligence, or agentic workflows.

Ellamind builds vertical AI agents for regulated back-office work, delivering ready-to-use agents via two offerings: Ellamind Agent Lab for pre-built, use-case–specific automation in health insurance, banking, insurance, and the public sector; and Ellamind Frontier for custom AI services, model evaluation, and AI audits. Agents run on a model-agnostic stack (Azure, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or self-hosted) with 100% EU data residency and an air-gap option, and operate through browser UIs with secure runtimes, credential brokering, sandboxing, and full audit trails. Evaluation and compliance are supported by elluminate, which provides pass-rate reporting and EU AI Act–compliant documentation and monitoring. The aim is to provide trustworthy, scalable, auditable back-office automation with measurable throughput gains, backed by European clients and ongoing EU-aligned R&D.
