Requirements
  • Matriculation in a Masters or Doctoral degree training program in clinical or counseling psychology, family therapy, or social work from an accredited program required.
  • Experience working in an academic setting is preferred.
  • Must be eager to learn all aspects of the role and scope of a family medicine behaviorist.
  • Clinically active, working in direct patient care and/or the supervision of patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise Family Medicine residents, in medical communication. Including, teaching detailed aspects of the integration of patient centered and physician-patient centered communication.
  • Be available for residents; competently address issues of depression, anxiety and addiction and other concerns they may have for their patients.
  • Promote health education and physician well-being to promote resiliency within the residency.
  • Observe and evaluate family medicine resident’s patient encounters on a regular basis; providing meaningful and structured feedback to the resident.
  • Coordinate (including possible creation and/or revaluation) relevant behavioral health curriculum and didactics.
  • Serve as needed on relevant committees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly work, both self-directed and with residents.
