As a Design and Engineering Specialist at Aurora Solar, you will conduct quality assurance on Photovoltaic site plans, drawings, elevations, and equipment details using AutoCAD, Adobe, and Aurora software. In this role, you will be required to produce simple to complex design audits that permit quality. You will also influence our product design and direction by relaying customer requests back to Aurora’s Engineering and Management teams. What you’ll do:
- Help manage residential plan sets including detailed electrical wire diagrams and construction drawings for PV system installation using Aurora, Adobe Pro, and CAD software packages
- Develop SOP and best practice training materials for PV design specialists
- Review designs for compliance with NEC, local AHJ, and utility requirements
- Edit permit package revisions using CAD, Adobe Pro, and Aurora software
- Provides technical support to troubleshoot design and/or other technical issues
- Answer client emails about design questions, kickbacks, or revisions
- Contribute to internal and client-facing documentation
- Work closely with sales, product, engineering, and marketing teams to aid with various initiatives that impact our customers
- Liaise with customers and customer design teams to review modeling discrepancies and take corrective action.
- Find opportunities to increase customer usage and take action on implementing these steps, or advancing to the appropriate member to do so
What we value:
- 1+ years of relevant work experience in the design and engineering of residential PV systems
- Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent) and Adobe Pro
- Knowledge of NEC code and electrical design requirements
- Experience in permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction preferred
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software, JIRA, and ZenDesk
- Ability to identify and resolve design issues
- Ability to work with complex technical questions
- Provide a final review of system designs to ensure a high level of accuracy and completion
- Excellent written, chat, and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a startup environment and/or the solar industry
At Aurora Solar, we tie our base pay ranges to level and location. In the United States, this means that your base pay ranges will fall into one of three geographic pay zones depending on your location.
In most cases, we target the midpoint of our salary ranges for new hire compensation. This placement is reflective of full proficiency in a role. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a number of factors including skills, qualifications, and location. This role is eligible for additional variable compensation and an equity grant, which will be discussed in your initial recruiter conversation.
Our current base pay ranges in each zone are:
-Tier 1 San Francisco, New York City: $91,000.00 - $123,000.00
-Tier 2 Seattle, Los Angeles, Washington DC: $83,500.00 - $112,500.00
-Tier 3 All Other US Locations, including Colorado: $75,500.00 - $102,500.00
