Requirements
  • Possess some knowledge of Christian theology and field-relevant best practices.
  • Have knowledge of participant-specific resources and experience serving at-risk populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and participate effectively within and across teams.
  • Have de-escalation skills for assisting with on-site crisis situations.
  • Be able to lift up to 25 pounds two to three times per day and stand and walk for long periods.
  • Have at least one year of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Have good organizational and planning skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be a commissioned or constituent minister of the Volunteers of America church, a minister of another Christian church, or be willing to become one within a year.
  • Have strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be highly competent with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based applications.
  • Have strong time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Be able to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Be able to present and communicate professionally.
  • Model the organization’s core culture attributes, critical virtues, and Cardinal Doctrines.
  • Ensure equitable and inclusive services and ensure participants have an active voice in programming.
  • Demonstrate Christian leadership, compassion, knowledge, and active service to people in need.
Responsibilities
  • Provide spiritual support to program participants and community members during scheduled hours.
  • Coordinate and schedule chapel services, open hours, and special events.
  • Promote chapel use internally and within the broader community.
  • Collaborate with ministers, staff, volunteers, and community partners to support chapel programming.
  • Conduct community outreach to increase participation in chapel activities.
  • Assist Mission program staff with on-site crisis situations when necessary.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment within the Chapel.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with participants, donors, volunteers, and staff and resolve conflicts when necessary.
  • Attend bi-monthly Volunteers of America Colorado minister meetings and trainings.
  • Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
