Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required to serve as a Designated School Official for the unit.
  • One to two years of professional experience.
  • Credentials must be obtained before the employment start date.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Director in facilitating the arrival and regulatory compliance of scholars and students at the university.
  • Assist with initiatives that build a supportive university experience for international students and scholars, working closely with the Senior Director of Student and Scholar Success Initiatives.
  • Provide immigration and regulatory compliance services to international employees, visiting scholars, and student interns by advising them on immigration requirements for maintaining status and implementing federal immigration and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the Director to create, document, and maintain business practices for the efficient hiring and retention of international faculty and staff in accordance with federal regulations and university policies.
  • Work with the Director to improve and update scholar services as regulatory changes occur.
  • Process student and scholar immigration requests and coordinate permanent residency petitions with an outside attorney.
  • Collaborate with university offices, including colleges, academic advising units, Academic Affairs, Human Resources, and Student Life, to optimize international students' and scholars' experiences and promote the university's international mission.
  • Work with leadership on scholar programming to develop programs that promote belonging, ease transitions to life and work in the United States, and provide resources and information to enhance scholars' stay.
  • Assist with programs to increase admission and retention of international students and scholars at the university.
  • Lead special projects assigned by the Director.
  • Contribute to enrollment, retention, progression, completion, and equitable student-success outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively and uphold university, Nevada System of Higher Education, and state laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work and travel may be required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience in international education.
  • At least one year of related experience working with international students or scholars.
  • One year of experience serving as an Alternate Responsible Official.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other student information management systems such as Terra Dotta.
