Rec Room is played on nearly every platform worldwide, and we want to ensure it’s played well. We are currently seeking a Senior/Staff Product Data Scientist with a focus on App Performance.

As the data lead on this cross-company initiative, you’ll play a critical strategic role in shaping how and where we focus our efforts. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and developers across multiple teams to understand how technical quality impacts player experience and to identify the highest-leverage opportunities for improvement. You’ll also collaborate with our creator and partner teams to feed this information back to our creators.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Own our understanding of the technical quality of the app, meet frequently with Rec Room engineering leads and company management, and shape investment decisions.
Lead initiatives to develop new tracking and experimentation methodologies to uncover opportunities to improve various aspects of the app.
Use statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze complex data sets, identifying trends that will inform improvements in app stability and performance.
Own the experimentation plan for the company and its quality efforts, guiding teams on whether to ship and how to consider engagement tradeoffs.
Develop a strong understanding of how game development on Unity works
Work with Creator success teams and our personalization team to incorporate your findings into the product.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH:

5+ years of data science experiments, with experience in highly technical roles, such as infrastructure, app performance, and complex ranking systems.
A Bachelor’s or Masters in Math, CS, or related field
Significant expertise in experimentation methodologies
Solid knowledge of SQL
Experience with Python or R is a plus
A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve
Effective communicator with the ability to distill complex concepts into easily digestible insights

The base pay range for this position is listed below; please note the base pay may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. We also offer a full slate of benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental vision, life and disability coverage, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a parental leave program. We also offer some not-so-standard benefits, including equipment, family, and pet care stipends.

Base Pay Range

$194,063—$237,188 USD
