Requirements
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse licensure is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to document patient needs and assessments.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision coding.
  • Prior knowledge of drawing blood.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations, including age-related growth and development principles and interpreting patient-status data.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure optimal patient care using the nursing process.
  • Maintain patient records and document the patient's medical and nursing care.
  • Administer and control narcotics, medications, and intravenous therapies in accordance with the Registered Nurse Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assess and plan patient and family education and discharge needs.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Initiate, delegate, and evaluate patient-care team functions as part of problem solving.
  • Promote an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person for other patient-services team members.
  • Practice nursing competencies based on current scientific knowledge.
