Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the prompt resolution of problems related to pre- and post-care arising in daily clinical operations.
  • Perform general administrative and clinical functions, including answering incoming calls, managing patients, and acquiring necessary patient care and records.
  • Assist patients in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner while adhering to divisional and departmental service standards.
  • Assist departments in managing expectations surrounding pre- and post-patient care.
  • Answer multiple department telephones, triage incoming calls, respond to questions, direct calls, and document messages in the appropriate software.
  • Monitor access to new appointments and manage appointment waiting lists.
  • Manage assigned UChart In Basket messages.
  • Initiate, process, and finalize prior authorizations.
  • Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously within five rings, introducing the practice as requested by the division.
  • Process patient information for messages and requests, and enter and route requests to the appropriate person within UChart.
  • Maintain professional relationships with physicians and working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Provide coverage for co-workers' responsibilities when assigned or when needed.
  • Follow supervisory staff instructions and assist them as required.
  • Develop and promote effective communication methods with physicians, managers, peers, trainees, and staff.
  • Obtain or review patient demographic information, insurance information, and referral numbers.
  • Review clinical records for completeness, including authorizations, signatures, missing data, and other patient information.
  • Greet callers, handle their inquiries, and direct them to appropriate personnel.
  • Work cooperatively with employees to solve problems and support the smooth, efficient flow of the practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
