We are searching for a talented Advanced practitioner for Oncology.

Hours:  32 hrs  8A-4:30P

Shift:   Day.  Carrying pager call for weeknight/weekend responsibilities.  One time per week with additional compensation. 

Location:  Fairhaven & Fall River, MA

Responsibilities

• Under the general supervision and direction of the Physician-in-Chief or designee, perform a variety of designated duties and responsibilities in collaboration with individual physicians including assessment of new and established patients.
• In the office setting, perform comprehensive physical exams including a health history for patients with a past, current or potential diagnosis of cancer in collaboration with individual physicians.
• Provide care to specific populations in cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, active treatment, palliative care and rehabilitation.
• Assess the roles, tasks and stressors of individuals, families, and caregivers and their ability to manage the illness experience (e.g. resources, support services, equipment, transportation, childcare, anxiety and depression) as well as the ability to navigate through the complex healthcare system.
• Assess and support all patients presenting to the cancer center with symptoms potentially related to the side effects of chemotherapy or other related treatments. Prescribe appropriate medications and post treatment instructions to promote quality of life. Direct patient follow-up to referring physician and/or PCP as directed by the oncologist.
• Work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary health care team in assessment, diagnosis and management of cancer and related disorders.

Qualifications

• Physician Assistant: Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required.
• Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required. Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
• Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required.
• Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
• Minimum one year experience as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) preferred.
• One year experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• Certification issued by Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Registered Nurse in an expanded role required. Current Nurse Practitioner license required.
• Advanced Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification preferred or to be achieved within first year.

Pay Range

USD $62.50 - USD $72.00 /Hr.

Rotation Schedule Requirement

Carrying pager call for weeknight/Weekend responsibilities. One night a week
