Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or any related STEM degree with 5 years of relevant experience (Masters with 3 years exp, PhD with 0 years exp)
  • Direct experience with semiconductor fabrication, working in a R&D cleanroom environment
  • Hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting high-vacuum and ultra-high vacuum semiconductor processing cluster tools such as from AMAT, Evatec, Ferrotec, or similar
  • Experience in working with equipment vendors and maintenance teams to improve equipment uptime
  • Experience in documenting and improving tool maintenance procedures
  • Experience working with vendors to establish and manage spare parts inventory
  • Able to work independently on operating tools, developing experiments, and gathering and analyzing data to solve problems
  • Candidate must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to work with a diverse group of people including engineers, technicians, and management
  • Must have experience with tool purchasing, installation, startup, and qualification
  • Must be able to work a large percentage of time working in a Class 100 cleanroom environment
  • Must be able to meet all physical and PPE requirements
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and understanding of SPC tools and use
  • Experience in structured problem-solving methodology to troubleshoot tool and process issues such as RCCA, 5Why’s and Fishbone methodology
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Responsibilities
  • Developing and troubleshooting high vacuum equipment and processing for new materials in both microelectronic and superconducting electronics
  • Mentoring junior engineers to support their career development
  • Leading interactions with equipment vendors and service engineers
  • Developing and maintaining process and maintenance documentation
  • Works with Environmental, Health, and Safety to improve safety of processes, recommend PPE, environmental monitoring, and hazardous waste handling
  • Training technicians and junior engineers on tool operations
  • Interfacing with customers, program managers, other unit process engineers, and integration engineers during the design and execution of process development and improvement projects
  • Performing all other related duties as assigned
