Requirements
  • Must be an undergraduate student in the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must have completed two long semesters at The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Must be available to work Mondays and Fridays between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as an official ambassador for the McCombs School of Business.
  • Represent McCombs and The University of Texas at Austin at recruitment, admissions, and yield events.
  • Correspond with prospective students and families weekly.
  • Deliver presentations to prospective students, families, and campus guests.
  • Facilitate weekly information sessions and lead building tours.
  • Conduct one-on-one appointments with prospective students and families.
  • Assist with planning and executing admissions, recruitment, and yield events.
  • Tour VIP prospective students.
  • Assist with data entry, call projects, and mailings.
  • Operate front-desk responsibilities, including handling Texas BBA inquiries, phone calls, and walk-ins.
  • Close the Outreach Office when assigned.
  • Record attendance and update student records in a timely manner.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and make referrals as necessary.
  • Maintain shared student workspaces.
  • Maintain an Outlook calendar that accurately reflects availability.
  • Submit time-off requests one to two weeks in advance.
  • Call at least one hour before a shift if absent due to illness or anticipating a late arrival.
  • Dress appropriately for presentations and events.
  • Use professional judgment to solve problems and complete tasks.
  • Attend biweekly one-on-one meetings with supervisors.
  • Work in standard office conditions, at a keyboard workstation, in classroom presentations, and while walking around McCombs School of Business.
  • Work 10 hours per week, with some evening and weekend work.
Desired Qualifications
  • A work-study award for the semester is optional.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present to audiences of more than 100 attendees.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, study abroad, internships, or community involvement.
  • Confidence communicating with prospective students, families, alumni, and university guests.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus while working in an open area.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email, with Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to uphold University policies, the Honor Code, and the McCombs Code of Conduct.
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing with the university.
  • Professionalism and positive representation of the McCombs School of Business and The University of Texas.
