Requirements
  • Two years of experience in healthcare support services, environmental services, hospitality, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to common customer inquiries or complaints using designated engagement techniques.
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms and ancillary areas, including bathrooms, public areas, corridors, and medication storage rooms, using designated chemicals and procedures.
  • Access and use department-related technology systems, including Bed Management systems.
  • Replenish supplies, remove biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linen, and change cubicle or window curtains as needed.
  • Complete daily patient room and bathroom cleaning to accommodate discharges and admissions and maintain cleanliness standards, using approved procedures and Bed Management systems where applicable.
  • Apply healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, safe chemical-use practices, equipment-handling procedures, and labor-saving products.
  • Follow organizational safety, risk-management, and infection-control guidelines and standards.
  • Operate the UV disinfection machine according to policy.
  • Participate in departmental performance-improvement initiatives, including initiatives addressing customer experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Follow infection-prevention practices, including cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment.
  • Recognize and follow patient privacy requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Assist with onboarding new Environmental Services Technician I and II employees as requested.
  • Report unsafe situations and submit Engineering Service Requests for repairs.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with organizational policies and applicable standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Use appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.
  • Operate and properly maintain environmental services tools and equipment used to clean and disinfect the environment.
  • Set up and dismantle beds for cleaning according to department procedures.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by environmental services leadership.

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging.
