Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing, with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing or ten (10) years’ experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing in lieu of bachelor’s nursing degree required.
  • Master of Science Degree in nursing, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on psychiatric mental health clinical preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ clinical education/teaching or leadership experience in a behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensed by Wisconsin State Board of Nursing. License must be in good standing with the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or American Red Cross Professional Rescue is required within thirty (30) days of date-of-hire. Bi-annual recertification is required.
  • Formal training in the management of aggressive patients is required within sixty (60) days of date-of-hire. Annual recertification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Development of and delivery of local Nursing Services Orientation (NSO) content.
  • Facilitation and evaluation of NSO knowledge checks.
  • Development of and support in individualized education plans for new nursing staff as needed.
  • Development of and delivery of virtual Regional Nursing Services Orientation (NSO) content.
  • Development of and delivery of CBRF Medication Administration course for Mental Health Technician and supportive living staff.
  • Monitoring of outcomes of and ongoing continuous improvement to nursing services trainings based on organizational needs.
  • Preceptorship coordination and support for nursing services staff.
  • Education support for implementation of new nursing processes.
  • Individual education for nursing staff as needed.
  • Provide education resources for nursing staff.
  • Work collaboratively with academic partners as assigned.
  • Manage clinical site requests and schedule.
  • Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in the nursing field
  • Provide guidance on best clinical practices
  • Coordinate or conduct lectures or workshops on nursing topics
  • Review and update computer-based learnings as indicated
  • Complete departmental projects as requested.
  • Participate in committees and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Attend external seminar to promote professional growth.
  • Interact with external professional peers to create a professional network.
  • Comply with the Hospital’s policies and procedures and the Infection Control and Employee Health programs.
  • Project a professional image by wearing appropriate, professional attire.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
