Requirements
  • 12+ years related experience in managed care and/or clinical diagnostics calling on major payers
  • Comprehensive advanced knowledge and insight into the clinical diagnostics market, managed care, reimbursement, health economics, population health, competition and other external market factors
  • High degree of effective advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and judgment with specific application to medical and financial data
  • Existing relationships and contacts, Medical and Contracting, at health plans in the area
  • Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and provide strategic leadership in the context of a rapid growing business
  • Advanced knowledge of legal principles and contract language related to managed care contracting issues
  • Must possess strong communication skills; writing, verbal and presentation
  • Sense of urgency and ability to meet challenging deadlines
  • Skilled at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success
  • General understanding of the CPT coding environment
  • Positive attitude, personable, approachable
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Monday - Friday, 8-5, occasional later times. Ability to travel nationally as needed for client meetings, conferences, and sales meetings as required
  • 30-40% travel required
  • Language: English, Spanish helpful
  • Degree/education: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree
  • Specific computer/software skills: Mac, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Docs, Slides
Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with leadership and key decision makers at targeted managed care plans
  • Develop and present compelling payer value proposition that communicates clinical, economic, and value-based attributes of Invitae's portfolio to key payers
  • Negotiate and execute contractual agreements with targeted managed care plans/accounts at national/regional/state levels, and update as needed
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of commercial plans, FFS, Managed Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans
  • Interact effectively with internal departments to ensure optimal coordination of plans and activities (Reimbursement/Billing, Clinical/Medical Affairs, Legal, Marketing, Sales, etc.)
  • Establish pilot programs with payers to help drive reimbursement coverage decisions for multi-gene panels and to demonstrate the value of genetic testing
  • Routinely communicate managed care activities to leadership and other internal departments
  • Gain/Updated positive Medical coverage policies for Invitae test offerings
  • Strive to contribute to the organization as a leader and an individual contributor
