General Description:
The Product Manager for Mobile Products will be responsible for the success of their product features and outcomes, from overall product alignment to specific product requirements through to delivery to the market and end of life. The selected candidate will have a background in software product management and be a cross-functional leader, strategic thinker, and active contributor with the ability to deliver quality software solutions to the market.
You will be responsible for driving the market analysis, product strategy and definition, business case, competitive analysis, partner interaction and customer management associated with your products. You will need experience in managing a product through all phases of the product life cycle, including concept, definition, planning, development and implementation.
This includes being responsible for the execution of planned products and projects and delivery of the products with the goal of increasing the adoption of existing products and introducing and developing new products to increase market share and revenue.
This role will be instrumental in conceiving, defining, planning, and executing on a product roadmap that directly contributes to our organization’s success in the K-12, Higher Education, and Corporate markets.
Responsibilities:
- Exercise curiosity and empathy in order to build products that our customers love.
- Initiate and involve customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders in user empathy and discovery sessions to better understand their challenges.
- Solicit inputs for your roadmap by collaborating with engineering, marketing, sales, customer engagement, and other stakeholders.
- Define a vision for your products and/or features that reinforce a persuasive vision of the future of learning.
- Create strategy for your product or features which identifies market opportunities, grows the product portfolio, and drives the go-to-market execution.
- Actively develop and maintain a data-driven product roadmap to deliver on the product vision and strategy.
- Define end-to-end tactics, milestones and success metrics that are easily understood and measurable.
- In collaboration with engineering and design, translate the product vision and roadmap into feature level details and user stories with success criteria.
- Manage the impact of scope change and priority with all stakeholders.
- Ensure products are delivered on schedule and with high quality results .
- Create the necessary artifacts to communicate initiative goals, scope, solution proposals, and product status effectively.
- Lead the complete product development life cycle in an agile environment from developing use cases to product delivery in market, to post release and end of life.
- Own and define the full product lifecycle as a subject matter expert regarding assigned problems and their resulting solutions. · Participate and contribute to team rituals (Sprint Planning, Retros, Sprint Demos, Stand-ups). · Be the Subject Matter Expert for D2L’s learning solutions within the Product Management.
- Act as the ‘evangelist’ of your product features, internally and externally.
- Represent the ’voice of our customers’ to internal teams.
- Clearly communicate the larger product vision and specific product requirements across the organization, from senior executives to agile team members.
- Enable solutions engineers and account executives on product values and features to facilitate great demonstrations for prospects, customers, and partners.
- Represent D2L thought leadership at industry events.
- Help us continuously improve the product management practice at D2L.
Education and/or Job Knowledge or Skill Requirements:
We are looking for a highly motivated, empathy and results driven person, who has strong business and technical skills. You should have demonstrated expertise in Product Management including product planning, market research, competitive analysis, product positioning, enablement, evangelism, and product marketing.
- 2-5 years of experience in software product management;
- Strong interest in Education. Educational space experience an asset but not essential;
- Highly quantitative, analytical, and business-minded. Ability to solve complex problems in an organized way;
- Ability to 100% own initiatives. Self-motivated and can operate and execute with a sense of urgency, discipline, decisiveness, and focus;
- Proven ability to meet or exceed assigned targets, budgets, and deadlines;
- Understand and articulate customers’ viewpoints and perspectives, the problems, and opportunities customers face in their businesses and how customers use, or could use, our product(s) to address them, balanced against our business context and constraints;
- Proven ability to confidently and clearly communicate both technical and business topics to a variety of groups, including customers, senior leadership team, designers, architects, and developers;
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with a cross-functional team consisting of Engineering, Design, Architecture, Product Management, and Marketing.
- A sharp wit and finely tuned sense of humor desired.
