Greggs Launches First Ever Christmas Cards With An Edible Twist

Greggs launches first ever Christmas cards with an edible twist. * High street bakery launches first-ever Christmas cards with an edible twist * Heat-activated ink reveals a code for a free sausage roll or vegan alternative * Partnered with Moonpig to make Secret Santa gifts easier for stressed shoppers Greggs is turning Christmas cards into snacks this year and sausage roll lovers are already drooling at the thought. The high street bakery has launched its first range of festive cards, each hiding a code for a free sausage roll, including the vegan one, all for £3.95 under the name "The Ultimate Secret Santa Surprise". Will Barker reported in Money News Today that the clever cards use heat-activated ink: warm up the design and a unique code appears, ready to be redeemed in-store for a pastry fix. No tat, no panic-buying, just a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Customers can also personalise the designs, including uploading a photo of a loved one, making it feel more like a proper gift than a last-minute dash through the seasonal aisle. Greggs has teamed up with online card giant Moonpig after a poll revealed just how stressful Secret Santa can be. Four in ten people admitted feeling anxious about the swap, while more than two-thirds confessed they end up panic-buying something forgettable. A third of respondents said they'd be happy or delighted to receive a Greggs sausage roll as a gift, and one in ten even claimed it would make their Christmas Day if they unwrapped one. Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs, said: "Latest Deals Limited is all about bringing a smile to people's faces, and what better way to do that at Christmas than with a card that comes with a tasty treat? "Partnering with Moonpig means fans can now send festive wishes with a Greggs twist, whether it's a laugh for your Secret Santa or a surprise for someone who's tricky to shop for, our exclusive collection with Moonpig offers a fun way to say 'Merry Christmas'... and yes, there's a free sausage roll in it too." Moonpig UK marketing director Rachael Halliday added: "By teaming up with Greggs, we're giving people a fun, thoughtful and easy way to show they care - because sometimes the smallest gestures, like a personalised card with a little treat inside, make the biggest impact." The launch comes hot on the heels of Greggs officially kicking off its festive season, with the beloved Festive Bake back on counters alongside other Christmas specials, fuel for shoppers racing between queues, parties and Secret Santas. For bargain hunters who love gifting on a budget, a card that doubles as a snack is about as no-brainer as it gets. Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk the discount code platform said, "Secret Santa can be painfully awkward and expensive, so a Greggs card with a free sausage roll is a genius fix; it's cheap, cheerful and almost guaranteed to be eaten instead of ending up in a drawer."
