Requirements
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • OSHA 500 certification is preferred.
  • A Board of Certified Safety Professionals certification such as Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Construction Health and Safety Technician is required or must be in progress.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting high-risk construction activities, including crane and rigging and lockout/tagout.
  • Proven ability to lead safety efforts on large or complex construction projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
  • Lead safety planning and execution in alignment with project leadership and operational goals.
  • Partner with project managers and superintendents to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Safety Coordinators and Senior Safety Coordinators.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of Holder safety programs, processes, and expectations.
  • Lead planning, review, and execution of high-risk activities, including crane and rigging, energy isolation and lockout/tagout, critical lifts, and work at height, with a focus on Serious Injury and Fatality risk identification and mitigation.
  • Apply and reinforce Energy-Based Safety principles, including HECA, the energy wheel, and energy control, in planning and field execution to manage exposure to high-risk energy sources.
  • Review and provide guidance on critical job hazard analyses, means and methods plans, lift plans, and energy control procedures to ensure effective hazard identification and control strategies.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation, with emphasis on identifying systemic gaps and preventing recurrence of high-consequence events.
  • Support preconstruction and work planning efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate risk before execution, particularly for high-risk and Serious Injury and Fatality-potential activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with project teams, trade partners, and clients.
  • Support staffing, development, and performance of safety personnel.
