  • A proven, hands-on software engineer who has led teams to build backend service platforms that abstracts complexity away from and simplifies the lives of product engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to refactor, re-architect and unify core backend services to a high level of scalability, availability and reliability
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors/SDKs You tend to become a subject matter expert in any code you dive into, and demonstrate strong product ownership in your team's work
  • You have experience providing technical direction and leadership to a team of backend engineers. You optimize for impact over progress and have a bias towards action
  • You are architecturally minded, fearless of the unknown and can jump into different languages, code bases, client vs backend code ramping up as needed
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science disciplines, or comparable STEM-related degree
  • Plan, architect and lead ambitious technical projects that interact with a wide variety of teams within the company
  • Create and maintain best-in-class backend systems that enable all our product teams and provide consistent, reliable experiences for our members
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Leadership to design core, foundational services that have multiplicative impact across Product-facing engineering teams
  • Scale organization-wide practices around our Agile and Devops methodologies
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and take the lead in identifying, defining, and implementing impactful work that enable our Product teams
