Requirements
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in an accounting manager or senior accountant role with direct staff responsibility.
  • Expertise in multi-source revenue reconciliation, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and standard accounting close processes.
  • Experience with multiple point-of-sale systems or high-volume transaction environments such as hospitality, retail, food and beverage, ticketing, or similar settings.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and hold a team of accounting professionals accountable.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software; experience with enterprise resource planning systems is a plus.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Must pass a background check.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–8 accounting professionals, including accounts payable staff, payroll specialists, and revenue accountants.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Coordinate workload distribution across the team during high-volume periods, including season openings, month-end, year-end, and audits.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Finance and Accounting to identify staffing needs, train new hires, and develop succession paths.
  • Oversee daily revenue reconciliation across multiple point-of-sale systems covering lift tickets, season passes, ski school, rentals, tubing, retail, and food and beverage.
  • Review and approve daily revenue reports and resolve discrepancies between point-of-sale systems, the general ledger, and bank settlements.
  • Monitor revenue streams for pricing, taxation, discounts, and promotional coding accuracy.
  • Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice receipt, coding, approval workflow, payment runs, and vendor file maintenance.
  • Review and approve accounts payable disbursements and ensure alignment with purchase orders and contracts.
  • Monitor accounts payable aging and manage cash flow timing with the Vice President of Finance and Accounting.
  • Oversee multi-cycle payroll for year-round and seasonally variable employees.
  • Review payroll runs for hours, rates, tip allocations, benefit deductions, and tax withholding accuracy before submission.
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State wage and hour regulations, including overtime and paid sick leave.
  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and prepaid or deferred revenue schedules.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for cash, receivables, prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Produce monthly financial statements, departmental profit-and-loss statements, and flash reports for the Vice President and senior leadership.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls across cash handling, revenue recognition, accounts payable, and payroll.
  • Document, review, and update accounting policies and procedures and communicate changes to team members and operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements and coordinate with external certified public accounting partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in ski resort, outdoor recreation, hospitality, or multi-unit entertainment or venue accounting.
  • Familiarity with ski resort point-of-sale platforms such as RTP One, Siriusware, Intouch, or equivalent ticketing or reservation systems.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Background in seasonal workforce payroll and Washington State employment law.
