Requirements
  • A track record of success leading sales teams or sales team members in Laboratory Diagnostics is required, with residence and experience in the region and knowledge of the respective Integrated Delivery Networks.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a complex sales environment, including capital equipment, medical, or medical devices.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a direct sales team.
  • Experience in training and development, with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
  • Relevant business acumen in financial matters, market positioning, the healthcare industry, and customer relations.
  • Strategic decision-making, critical thinking, advanced sales, problem-solving, and objection-handling skills.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of residence is required, with no prior or pending DUI/DWI convictions or other serious moving violations unless prohibited by applicable law.
  • The candidate must meet applicable client-site vendor credentialing requirements, which may include identification verification, criminal background checks, drug screens, immunizations, annual tuberculosis testing, and healthcare training.
  • The candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with United States export control law.
Responsibilities
  • Drive commitment and accountability of the core laboratory sales team to achieve and exceed sales goals and grow revenue across assigned healthcare laboratory accounts.
  • Ensure assigned sales teams are continuously developed and that direct sales personnel are trained and competent in customer management, product and solution positioning, sales processes, and sales tools.
  • Hire and develop a sales team of 6–8 direct reports, set mutual expectations, provide frequent feedback, discuss individual development opportunities annually, and manage performance improvement cases when needed.
  • Determine priorities for must-win deals, create short-term and long-term strategic sales plans, and ensure their implementation.
  • Coach the team on account strategy and own the commercial outcome of new instrument opportunities, reagent and consumable revenue growth, total cost of ownership, and instrument placements.
  • Maintain direct customer relationships, understand regional market conditions, and lead the sales team in addressing customer needs and delivering the company value proposition.
  • Own sales operational activities and metrics, including sales funnel management, customer relationship management tool rigor, sales processes, critical-account coverage, contract management, compliance, and account financial health.
  • Own capital and reagent forecasting for the region and ensure forecast quality and accuracy across product lines and the financial outcomes of each deal.
  • Own the commercial outcome of existing customers, including reagent and consumable revenue growth, menu expansion, and contract compliance.
  • Conduct regular reviews with the Area Vice President and Field Product Manager to drive organization-wide commercial strategy in the region.
  • Drive teamwork with strategic corporate accounts, internal sales teams, distribution partners, technical teams, and service organizations to achieve sales goals.
  • Lead collaborative efforts across regional and nonregional teams to ensure excellent customer solutions and experiences.
  • Leverage Healthcare Consulting Services and Informatics Sales Specialists during the sales cycle.
  • Work collaboratively with Service, Technical Applications, Business Operations, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and other internal teams.
  • Develop and manage a collaborative environment within the team and with partners while balancing customer needs with company financial goals.
  • Lead the assigned sales region to achieve and exceed sales goals across Laboratory Solutions products and deliver the region sales team's financial performance.
  • Manage and resolve business problems, particularly in dynamic environments, and make decisions aligned with commercial strategy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing account-level deal strategy using Miller Heiman and organizing a team to execute the plan of action.
  • Direct management experience within the in vitro diagnostics market.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product lines, markets, and competitors.
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in a related discipline, an advanced degree where required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Siemens Healthineers has received up to $60 million from the US Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health to develop photon Flash radiotherapy, with the company contributing an additional $23 million, totalling $83 million over five years. Flash photon therapy delivers radiotherapy more than 100 times faster than current technologies, aiming to reduce side effects and improve healthy tissue sparing. Unlike proton and electron beam platforms, which face scalability challenges, photon beams are the standard of care for over 50% of cancer patients. The project will build on existing C-arm linear accelerators to enable broader clinical access. Siemens Healthineers aims to transition ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy from experimental treatment into global standard of care within the five-year timeframe.

Varian TrueBeam gets FDA clearance for low-dose radiotherapy to treat osteoarthritis

Siemens Healthineers has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy systems to treat medically refractory osteoarthritis in adults using low-dose radiation therapy. This marks the first expansion of Varian's radiotherapy platform beyond cancer care into chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Osteoarthritis affects over 33 million adults in the US and approximately 600 million globally. The clearance covers TrueBeam, TrueBeam STx, VitalBeam and Edge systems, offering patients with persistent pain a non-invasive outpatient treatment option that targets inflammation, reduces pain and improves joint function. The approval builds on Varian's previous regulatory clearances for non-oncological indications, including radiosurgery treatment for medically refractory essential tremor. The TrueBeam platform combines high-resolution imaging with precise dose control whilst maintaining streamlined clinical workflows.

Telix and Varian enter research collaboration. Telix Pharmaceuticals and Siemens Healthineers' company Varian have agreed to develop novel clinical applications that combine Telix's theranostics products and Varian's external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) technology. The first area of focus will be in identifying opportunities to use Telix's prostate cancer PET imaging agents in selecting patients for EBRT, developing personalized treatment plans (particularly in the context of Varian's Ethos adaptive radiotherapy system), and monitoring responses to treatment, Telix said. The agreement supports both company-sponsored and investigator-led clinical studies. Varian is a key player in EBRT and working with the company will allow Telix to explore how theranostics can be used more effectively by radiation oncologists to enhance patient selection and deliver targeted treatment, Telix noted.
