Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in TEMPEST, Physical or Technical Security, or Facility Inspection–related fields, including at least 3 years in facility accreditation inspections, shielding, grounding, and Protected Distribution Systems (PDS)
  • Completion of National TEMPEST School certifications, including: TEMPEST Fundamentals, TEMPEST for System Installation and Facility Design, Test Equipment Familiarization, Field Testing Basics
Responsibilities
  • Assist the NGA Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA) in executing the NGA TEMPEST program, including analyzing requirements and implementing processes to control or mitigate compromising emanations from NGA equipment and facilities.
  • Interpret and apply National, DoD, and Agency security policies and regulations governing TEMPEST to NGA facilities, systems, and equipment.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to NGA customers, ensuring accurate collection of required information such as building schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, shielding, power systems, signal data, HVAC ductwork, and utility routing.
  • Support customers in completing automated workflow requests, TEMPEST checklists, Protective Distribution System (PDS) requests, and Countermeasure Review requests.
  • Conduct Visual TEMPEST Inspections (VTI) and TEMPEST testing of NGA facilities, systems, and equipment, including SCIFs and PDS, as directed by the NGA CTTA.
  • Represent the NGA CTTA in meetings and briefs, providing technical input on facilities, systems, and equipment that process classified information.
  • Maintain accuracy of the NGA TEMPEST Automated Workflow Process and ensure timely completion of all reports, checklists, PDS requests, and Countermeasure Reviews.
  • Supervise annual reporting of TEMPEST technical evaluations (minimum of 75 items) and ensure all reviews, inspections, and assessments are completed within established timeframes.
  • Maintain TEMPEST qualifications in accordance with National, DoD, and Agency policy; manage TEMPEST test equipment, including repairs and calibrations.
  • Coordinate with NGA components and partners to ensure compliance with TEMPEST requirements and countermeasures.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to Agency security elements on new processes, systems, and wireless best practices; ensure compliance with National TEMPEST policy.
  • Evaluate and recommend countermeasures to the NGA CTTA, prepare cost and implementation estimates, and ensure reviews are conducted in line with National and DoD directives.
  • Maintain accurate records of technical reviews, inspections, evaluations, VTIs, checklists, and waivers in the TEMPEST Automated Workflow Process.
  • Conduct inspections and site assistance visits as required by the NGA CTTA.
  • Advise, develop, and oversee an On-the-Job Training (OJT) program to prepare TSSC Technicians for success in government-sponsored training.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Credentialed graduate of an accredited federal or DoD Counterintelligence (CI) training academy (e.g., FBI Academy).
  • Advanced TEMPEST training or certifications beyond the required baseline.
