Requirements
  • Grade 12 Diploma.
  • One to two years of experience as a Unit Clerk.
  • Ability to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • Experience and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Successful candidates must obtain a Criminal Background Check and provide proof of all mandatory immunizations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clerical and operational support in an assigned resident care area.
  • Assist the Interdisciplinary Team with organization and efficient interaction with other departments and agencies.
  • Assist residents, families, and Interdisciplinary Team members in meeting residents’ needs.
  • Facilitate communication by answering phones, directing messages, using the intercom, and communicating with external agencies and internal resources.
  • Arrange appointments, including hairdressing, outings, consultations, lab work, and conferences.
  • Identify resident transportation needs and arrange transportation, accompaniment, and petty cash as required.
  • Communicate with residents, families, and Interdisciplinary Team members regarding resident preferences and schedules.
  • Document resident care assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately, comprehensively, and on time in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures.
  • Assemble and maintain Resident Health Care records accurately and up to date.
  • Ensure proper resident identification is in place and maintain resident confidentiality.
  • Monitor unit inventory and complete material-management requisitions when required.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of stationery items and required forms.
  • Use required ordering forms and pick up supplies from other departments when necessary.
  • Complete maintenance requisitions and monitor the status of repairs.
  • Photocopy and distribute notices and mail as required.
  • Liaise with the Interdisciplinary Team regarding resident and family requests for pastoral care, palliative care, and volunteer services.
  • Liaise with facility support services regarding resident, family, and Interdisciplinary Team requests for laundry, business-office, maintenance, and environmental services.
  • Notify appropriate team members of resident arrivals, discharges, and transfers using internal communication processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Unit Clerk Certificate.
  • Previous experience with geriatrics.
