Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent GED is required.
  • Rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience is required.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
  • Ability to work a schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off is required.
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools is required.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations is required.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance is required.
  • A valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Repair machinery and mechanical equipment by diagnosing problems, dismantling equipment, repairing or replacing defective parts, coordinating machine-shop repairs when needed, reassembling machines, and making operating adjustments.
  • Install, maintain, and repair equipment used for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, and other specifications.
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Perform standard computations relating to load requirements for wiring and electrical equipment.
  • Use electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Use hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Perform on-call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Support and assist other department staff and trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adhere to established safety, personnel policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Trade certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or carpentry are preferred.
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook is preferred.
