Requirements
  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial process equipment and/or capital project environments.
  • Proven technical leadership across chemical engineering capital projects.
  • Strong systems-level thinking and ability to manage technical tradeoffs.
  • Deep knowledge of chemical processing unit operations (fluids/solids handling, heat transfer, reactions, separations, drying) and relevant chemical process industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience developing and approving engineering deliverables.
  • Experience estimating engineering and overall project costs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools: AutoCAD (2D/3D) and/or SolidWorks, Process simulation tools (ChemCAD preferred), Process diagramming tools (Visio preferred)
  • Ability to work on-site in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical lead for solving complex or high-risk engineering challenges on projects.
  • Develop and take responsibility for core process deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment lists, and specifications with minimal direction.
  • Lead requirements gathering, concept and preliminary designs, and vendor engagement.
  • Build process models, diagrams, and drawings using CAD, simulation, and diagramming tools.
  • Review and approve critical engineering deliverables; provide technical mentorship and feedback.
  • Lead and participate in internal and client-facing design reviews and technical meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, electrical, controls, fabrication, and field service teams.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools, workflows, and standards.
  • Lead estimating, proposal development, and schedule creation in partnership with project management and business development teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Recognized technical expertise in one or more process domains.
  • Experience influencing engineering standards or technical delivery within an organization.
  • Experience supporting field installation, commissioning, and startup.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
