There are 10 scholarships available: each in the amount of C$10,000
Scholarship recipients also receive an offer of paid employment for a 15-week Summer Analyst intern position at BMO Capital Markets in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver in 2024
Recipients will be paired with a Capital Markets professional to provide coaching and mentorship throughout their internship
Students receive formal and on-the-job training, opportunities to network and collaborate with other student interns, and access to ongoing professional development throughout their internship

Qualified Expectations:
Students at an accredited Canadian University in full-time undergraduate studies graduating in December 2024 or April 2025
Students from all academic programs including and not limited to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)
Students available to work full-time from May-August 2024
Strong academic record with minimum GPA of 3.0
Canadian citizens, permanent resident of Canada, and individuals who are legally eligible to work in Canada up to and including September 2024

Global Markets Summer Analyst Intern
What’s in it for you?
Summer interns will work on one desk in Global Markets over a 15-week period. Interns will be provided with desk job descriptions prior to starting and will be placed based on preference and skill set. Each intern will complete one week of onboarding and training with other interns across BMO Capital Markets. There are continuous professional development activities throughout the summer. These activities include teach-ins, trading games, meetings with senior leaders, and networking events with both peers and Senior Leadership.
A variety of desks host Summer Analysts including Equity Sales and Trading, Clearpool E-trading, Prime Finance, Structured Notes Sales and Trading, Leveraged Finance, Securitized Products Sales and Trading, Origination, Debt Capital Markets, and US Interest Rates Sales and Trading.
What will you do?
Summer interns are fully integrated into an assigned desk. Responsibilities will vary widely from day to day based on the needs of the business and the current market environment. Depending on the assigned desk, intern skill set, and business needs, responsibilities may include:
Development and deployment of business solutions such as pricing and risk models
Market data capture and display, spreadsheet development
Providing insight into trading strategies leveraging quantitative modelling
Improving on existing technology involving system infrastructure, internal reporting, client/management presentations, etc.
Bespoke projects requiring market, portfolio, or client research and data analytics
Creating client presentation materials using PowerPoint and Excel
Developing client trade ideas
Planning client events
Recapping and organizing market data and events
Shadowing and learning from Trading, Sales, and Strategy professionals
What are we looking for?
Highly motivated individuals who can work well in a team-based environment and seek a challenge.
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or Master’s program (non-MBA) with a graduation date of December 2024 or April 2025;
Strong academic record and extracurricular achievement;
Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of financial markets; with knowledge of programming and quantitative trading as an asset;
General knowledge of financial strategy / accounting / economic / capital management principles;
Excellent research and analytical skills, able to collect, analyze and interpret data;
Detail and results orientated;
Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment;
Demonstrated proactivity, resiliency, positive attitude and high motivation;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Ability to attentively review, assess and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner;
Strong work ethic and a high level of professional integrity.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge and familiarity with data manipulation / Excel/spreadsheet skills including VBA are an asset as well as strong quantitative/statistical background
Database experience (SQL, Oracle);
Knowledge of Excel, including scripting and efficient spreadsheet design;
Strong technical writing ability.
