Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), with a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of experience maintaining and repairing instrumentation such as flow meters, transducers, densitometers, and controllers.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, equipment prints, and schematics.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percentages, and bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including long and/or irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel to remote job locations.
  • Ability to be accessible by telephone and available for 24-hour call.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment and various tools.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to perform the physical activities and work in the environmental conditions required by the position.
Responsibilities
  • Lay out, rig up, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify oilfield production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, including computer equipment, data acquisition instrumentation, flow tubes, densitometers, pressure transducers, test equipment, hydraulic fracturing machinery, and controls.
  • Use Data Van control software at an advanced level to install, configure, remotely use, and retrieve and analyze log and configuration files from Data Vans or other units.
  • Maintain computer systems, including software and hardware updates.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and visual inspections using established procedures, forms, and reporting media.
  • Manage the department's inventory of repair parts, ready spares, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines at the yard to complete work requests and troubleshoot and upgrade equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor, Field, Field Coordinator, and Operations Coordinator regarding equipment status, emergency repairs, and equipment-use best practices.
  • Communicate equipment status details and directions to the Supervisor, Electronics and Supervisor, Maintenance.
  • Maintain daily work logs, paperwork requirements, and work orders.
  • Write equipment trouble reports, track issues, and develop solutions to equipment problems.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of circuits, systems, and components used on fracturing equipment.
  • Train and assist Electronics personnel on location regarding equipment capabilities and usage, including Data Van software.
  • Provide mentoring, direction, and training for subordinate Electronics Technicians.
  • Assist the Supervisor, Electronics in scheduling shop and field work.
  • Perform the job functions of the Supervisor, Electronics as required.
  • Act as Electronics Technician I and Electronics Technician II.
  • Directly supervise nine employees in the Fracturing department.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints; and resolve problems.
