Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Five years of clinical experience are required.
  • A Kansas license as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, physical therapist assistant, or certified occupational therapy assistant is required.
  • A current Basic Life Support or cardiopulmonary resuscitation card from an approved provider is required within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
  • Extensive knowledge of rehabilitation services, including patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation, is required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to a team approach to rehabilitation is required.
  • Effective leadership skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively is required.
  • The ability to balance team and individual responsibilities is required.
  • The role requires light physical work, including occasionally exerting up to 25 pounds and frequently exerting up to 10 pounds; standing or walking may be required for 11–25% of the day.
Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs, and administers the work of Rehabilitation Services within the hospital, including Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy.
  • Provides operational and administrative support and collaborates with medical and professional staff in other departments to achieve joint patient and management objectives.
  • Ensures optimal allocation of staff to workload ratios to meet budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Ensures operational costs remain within organizational goals.
  • Prepares the departmental budget.
  • Coordinates departmental projects.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with organizational and department-specific policies and procedures, safety and health standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains privacy and security compliance for protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
  • Serves a population ranging from newborns through geriatric patients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Oversees and guides team members, including employment decisions or recommendations and formal performance assessments.
  • Provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or Health Sciences Administration is preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience is preferred.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
  • The ability to contribute to building a positive team spirit within the department and organization is preferred.
