  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program.
  • Hold a current Nebraska Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Responsibilities
  • Check patients in upon arrival.
  • Use the electronic medical record to obtain vital signs, review systems, medication lists, family and social histories, and confirm medical-record completeness before the physician sees the patient.
  • Ensure appropriate supplies are available for patient visits and procedures, and ensure rooms are sterile and safe.
  • Triage patient phone calls and medication requests.
  • Support physicians with in-office procedures.
  • Administer logs for refrigeration control and sample medication receiving and distribution.
  • Ensure quality patient care and adhere to provider preferences.
  • Explain procedures and treatments and reinforce provider recommendations using the AIDET process.
  • Provide prescribed sample medications in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Administer injections and immunizations as prescribed by providers.
  • Use the electronic health record to accurately document visits, medications, vital signs, review of systems, medication lists, family and social history, and patient information.
  • Provide point-of-care testing and record test results, reports, and procedural documentation in patient charts.
  • Report test results and procedural documentation to providers for further instructions or sign-off.
  • Maintain sample medications by logging their receipt and documenting them in patient charts.
  • Send written, verbal, or computer-generated prescription refill requests to pharmacies as requested by the provider.
  • Track laboratory and procedure orders.
  • Communicate clinical data and test or procedure results accurately to the healthcare team.
  • Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician or clinic policy.
  • Communicate and instruct patients, families, or guardians on the plan of care and document their understanding in the patient chart.
  • Complete and document patient phone calls in the patient chart.
  • Assist with office procedures as requested by the physician.
  • Administer intravenous medication as prescribed by the physician.
