Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and has successfully completed a Nursing Fundamentals Course. Enrollment in nursing school is verified as part of the background process. Transcript or letter from college may be requested prior to employment.
  • Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.
  • Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Position may require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • Within two months of date of hire, employees must successfully pass the online course modules and skills validation for basic skills. Passing requires achieving an 80% passing rate in two attempts or will result in separation from employment.
  • Trainees are expected to have reliable attendance.
  • Trainees are responsible for maintaining their BLS and any other annual competencies.
  • Failure to abide by MUHA policies is subject to disciplinary action.
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA recognized equivalent or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities
  • The Student Technician I reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Student Tech I performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
