Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous hotel or restaurant experience is required.
- Fine dining server experience is required.
- Basic knowledge of wines is required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English is required.
- Ability to routinely lift an average of 50 pounds without restrictions is required.
- Must be of legal age to sell alcohol (21) or serve it (18).
- Must comply with Massachusetts State and Faculty Club Food Employee Illness Policy requirements.
- Must work at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location and meet applicable work-location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
Responsibilities
- Set up à la carte and private dining rooms for all meal periods, including tables and chairs, linens and skirts, flatware, buffets, and coffee and beverage stations.
- Perform opening and closing side work for each meal period.
- Take guests' orders for food and beverage items, serve and bus tables, pass hors d'oeuvres, and serve wines and champagnes according to Faculty Club standards.
- Attend to beverage stations.
- Clean and reset dining rooms for the next meal period according to established standards.
- Maintain sanitation standards in compliance with city and state laws, Harvard Environmental Health and Safety regulations, departmental policies, and HACCP policies.
- Work cooperatively with all team members.
- Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor, promote positive relationships with guests, maintain a neat appearance, and follow the designated dress code.
- Perform related job duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Micros or another point-of-sale system is helpful.
- Ability to work independently and multitask when necessary.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
