Requirements
  • Be a registered apprentice or an Alberta-certified Journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • Hold mandatory CWB FCAW/MCAW welding qualification in carbon steel with flat and horizontal processes.
  • Read blueprints in both metric and imperial systems.
  • Lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Complete respirator mask fit testing and WHMIS training.
  • Work in a fabrication shop with moderate noise and hazardous fumes.
  • Maintain close visual acuity, stand and sit for extended periods, walk on uneven ground, climb, enter confined spaces, and perform limited lifting.
Responsibilities
  • Read blueprints and specifications.
  • Fuse metal components using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes.
  • Grind, stamp, cut, and drill material.
  • Operate overhead cranes, oxy-acetylene torches, gouging equipment, and submerged arc welding machines.
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal errors, rejections, and non-conformances.
  • Report non-conformances and help maintain the integrity of the company’s ISO 9001 registration.
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings and complete housekeeping tasks.
  • Follow work schedules and established safety, machinery, equipment, and documentation procedures.
  • Participate in the HSE Safety Incentive Program by completing a weekly SI card.
  • Follow company personal protective equipment standards and report personal injuries.
  • Work overtime when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • CWB SMAW/GMAW welding qualification certifications.
  • Basic and Advanced Rigging Course.
  • FLHA training.
  • Certified Overhead Crane Certification.
