The Program Specialist will work as part of a larger team that creates a vibrant student experience outside the classroom, specifically managing programs and initiatives that provide students with the unique option to enhance their education and work experience beyond the traditional classroom through leadership and community engagement that enhances the University mission of social justice.
Job Duties:
- Provide direct oversight for the Waltham Group and other student-led clubs whose mission is related to service or community-engaged activities. Support the Waltham Group student executive board and student leaders of service or community engaged-clubs to ensure development of student leaders and volunteers through intentional programs and training, support logistics of student-run volunteer programs including, but not limited to, transportation, budget, risk management, volunteer recruitment, volunteer training, assessment, and reflection. Provide leadership to Waltham Group Executive Board to facilitate and also attend weekly Waltham Group training meetings, team days, program events, and reflections. Supervise Waltham Group Graduate Assistant(s) and other student interns.
- Encourage volunteering & service by the student body. Plan and run the annual VolunteerFest.
- Support DSE coordination with the Vic and Bobbi Samuels ’63 Center for Community Partnerships and Civic Transformation (COMPACT) on programs, fellowships, and services that provide support for students participating in community engaged experiences.
- Manage related program budgets. Support departmental programs and events, and participate in divisional/university committees and initiatives and the work of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in making programs and services inclusive and accessible to all students.
Qualifications & Additional Information:
Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred
1-3 years related work experience
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Budgeting experience
Experience supervising students and/or volunteers a plus
