Requirements
  • A degree from an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology program, or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant or Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.
  • A current license or certification in the state of practice.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, insurance, and resident rights.
Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site leadership for one location overseeing physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists through managerial, clinical, and administrative duties.
  • Oversee clinical delivery and quality of physical, occupational, and speech therapy using clinical excellence and evidence-based practice.
  • Review and enforce compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including current practitioner licensure and certifications.
  • Mentor staff and lead professional development and training programs.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology disciplines.
  • Allocate physical, financial, and human resources across sites to support operations, patient care, and staff satisfaction.
  • Lead and direct the work of others.
  • Use relevant data and clinical judgment to ensure appropriate therapy delivery and maximize patient outcomes.
  • Plan and schedule staff based on patient clinical needs.
  • Communicate with the facility skilled services team regarding care-plan or transfer/discharge variances affecting reimbursement and outcomes.
  • Intervene when deviations from the expected plan of care could affect safe discharge or rehospitalization, and assist with medical stabilization when needed.
  • Assist with training on coding, documentation, and assessment to support continuity, utilization, and medical necessity.
  • Promote clinical programs through quality outcome reporting, risk-based programs, and hospital relationships.
  • Oversee new-hire orientation and educate new hires on company policies, protocols, and daily responsibilities.
  • Attend facility and company meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensure therapy paperwork is accurate, timely, and organized according to Medicare and company requirements.
  • Ensure billing and payroll logs are accurate, timely, and organized according to company policies.
  • Manage and assist therapists to maximize patient care support and efficiency.
  • Communicate policy and procedure changes to team members to maintain quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Interact daily with facility personnel and staff, promote a positive work environment, and support the TMC experience.
  • Assist with maintaining and implementing special programs.
  • Promote employee development and clinical program enhancement.
  • Complete performance appraisals for therapy staff and make recommendations regarding hiring and promotions.
  • Counsel staff when necessary, including disciplinary actions through terminations, with required leadership and Human Resources input.
  • Request supplies and equipment to ensure the therapy department is adequately resourced.
  • Comply with the discipline-specific job description and physical strength requirements.
  • Assist registered therapists with procedures and programs.
  • Perform routine treatment procedures according to the planned program.
  • Report pertinent findings to the registered therapist.
  • Develop professional working relationships with staff, customers, facility team members, residents, and resident family members.
  • Communicate relevant facility, patient, and staff issues to the Area Manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
