Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with at least five to seven years of financial and budget experience, preferably in an academic setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Direct experience in financial management, including budget management, reporting, financial modeling, financial analysis, policy implementation, and research administration, including familiarity with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Experience in grant accounting is required.
  • Proven accounting skills and experience are required, including the ability to analyze and reconcile accounts.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize one's own workload and the workload of others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs, GSuite programs, and FileMaker.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • File and database management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to continue learning.
  • Ability to shift focus and priorities in a pressure environment.
  • Ability to work with large volumes of work, multiple project deadlines, and diverse personalities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level comprehensive pre-award and post-award management and financial services to various departments, institutes, and centers across campus.
  • Independently oversee all aspects of complex grant portfolios, including federal and non-federal sponsors.
  • Perform budgetary and financial planning and analysis.
  • Perform research administration.
  • Reconcile payroll.
  • Oversee purchasing.
  • Manage accounts.
  • Coordinate the effort certification process.
  • Process salary reallocations and costings.
  • Perform financial planning for sponsored awards.
  • Provide training and advice for grants and finance specialists.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience managing a team is preferred.
  • Experience using Huron or a similar database is preferred.
  • Supervisory skills are preferred.
  • Workday experience is a plus.
