Requirements
  • The position is intended for a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program of Sound Recording at the Schulich School of Music.
  • Must have full knowledge of the Redpath, Pollack, and Tanna concert halls and their associated audio and video equipment.
  • Must have successfully completed MUPD-204 and/or MUPD205, have equivalent knowledge, or obtain approval from the Sound Recording Area.
  • Requires working knowledge of Macintosh computers, navigational knowledge of MLAPS file systems including Unix navigation and commands, and familiarity with networks.
  • Must be able to work independently and with artists, faculty, and external clients.
  • Must be able to work under strict timelines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • Requires a high school diploma and two years of related experience.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure cameras and connection infrastructure are properly set up and ready for live performances.
  • Ensure communication equipment between the control room and camera operators is functioning properly.
  • Operate video cameras and recorders for live performances of operas, symphony orchestras, and recitals.
  • Take active direction in English.
  • Carry and set up Canon XF300, XF305, XF205, and XF100 cameras and Sony EX3 cameras, and set up custom menus for Canon XF705, XF305, XF205, and XF100 cameras and Sony A7SII cameras.
  • Set up Manfrotto professional tripods and Manfrotto 504 fluid heads.
  • Perform post-production work as required.

The Centre draws on university resources and philanthropic support to offer funding readiness, mentorship networks, and access to experienced entrepreneurs and investors, all within a campus-based ecosystem. Its goal is to discover, educate, and cultivate world‑class entrepreneurs and to help them build purposeful companies that contribute to the local and global innovation ecosystem.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
