The AI innovation for antibody (AI4Ab) group within Sanofi Large Molecule Research Department is seeking a highly talented Data Scientist for a Co-op position. We use leading-edge AI/ML and computational modeling tools to support different biologics project needs from Sanofi’s multi-targeting, multi-modality research pipeline. Our team has a great track record of patents and publications in the area of AI/ML for antibody-related applications. This intern position will focus on developing a machine learning approach to design novel protein/peptide binders, given 3D structure of a target, by combining in-depth understanding of structure biology and datasets from internally and externally. The successful candidate will have an advanced understanding and practical experience with developing and applying complex machine learning solutions for structural biology data.

Responsibilities:
Interact closely and be part of interdisciplinary antibody engineering and data science teams to drive effective decision-making by mining and developing generative models
Extract new knowledge and disruptive insights from the large and rich body of data collected internally and externally.
Develop and implement methods for extracting patterns and correlations from diversified data sources using cutting edge computation and data science toolkits.
Keep ahead of scientific literature and interact with internal and external scientists to integrate novel data science technologies
About you
Basic Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer sciences, bioinformatics, mathematics, computational biology, or related field with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring 2027
Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship/co-op with Sanofi.
Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hrs./week for the full duration of the internship/Co-op
Must have permanent US work authorization
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of structural biology and antibody discovery is a plus
Fluent programming with Python (or R), preferably in Linux and high-performance computing environments
Hands on experience with data analysis software such as Spotfire or similar
Familiar with the foundational concepts in molecular biology and biochemistry
In-depth experience with modern and classical methods used in artificial intelligence.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Passion to collaborate with others, self-development with a focus on scientific know-how, and sharing knowledge externally as publications or conference presentations.
Term of employment: 14 weeks
