  • Proven experience as a Fabrication Shop Estimator or similar role in the welding and fabrication industry.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task, managing the status of several quotes simultaneously.
  • Certification in welding or fabrication (preferred).
  • Experience with CAD software (preferred).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (preferred).
Responsibilities
  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to determine the scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for fabrication and welding projects.
  • Collaborate with project/construction managers, engineers, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials and welding techniques based on project needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Prepare and present proposals and/or estimates to clients, ensuring all aspects of the project are clearly communicated using estimating and proposal templates.
  • Monitor project costs and provide updates to ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of project schedules and timelines and enter data into our Deltek Vision business system for tracking.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation on corporate drives utilizing corporate filing structure.
  • Identify ways to continually improve cost-estimating procedures to reduce inconsistencies between estimated and actual project costs.
  • Provide viable solutions to increase project profitability.
  • Work closely with the machining estimator to determine feasibility/profitability of in-house vs outsourced parts.
