Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Respiratory therapy training or certification required
  • NICU Respiratory Care Practitioner with Pediatric experience
  • Must be able to work independently and have endotracheal intubation skills
  • Must be able to adhere to attendance and department coverage policies
  • Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • Licenses and Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist credential preferred; Must have registered Respiratory Therapist credential if hired after December 31, 2010
Responsibilities
  • Set up equipment and operate and troubleshoot all respiratory equipment in the NICU and Pediatric areas; maintain preventive maintenance records; keep equipment clean and ready to use between patients
  • Understand and participate in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program; participate in quality control and quality improvement activities
  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives; improve
  • Maintain professional growth and development training and knowledge for age-specific patient care in NICU, Pediatrics, Adolescents
  • Monitor environmental control system and patient on continuous ventilation
  • Participate in intra- and inter-hospital transport of sick neonates
  • Perform airway clearance of intubated and non-intubated patients
  • Perform arterial and capillary blood gases; provide and monitor conventional ventilation as well as high frequency ventilation
  • Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings; keep current with new equipment by attending outside seminars
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • RRT credential preferred; must have RRT credential if hired after 12/31/2010
  • Associate degree preferred
