Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The ability to humanely handle live animals to draw blood and fat samples is required.
  • Strong mathematical calculation skills are required, including the ability to determine correct vaccination mixtures.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with growers and internal and external customers is required.
  • Strong organizational skills are required, including the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • The ability to work non-standard shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, or extended shifts as needed is required.
  • The ability to travel between assigned farms to perform tests is required.
  • The ability to work and move about outside environments in all weather conditions daily is required.
  • The ability to work around live animals and associated odors is required.
  • The ability to enter confined spaces periodically may be required.
  • Required protective equipment must be worn in areas where it is mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Perform physical well-being tests on poultry flocks at assigned farms, including recording and reporting bird weights, taking fat samples, drawing blood, and administering required spray and pump vaccinations according to schedule.
  • Perform work in compliance with company, regulatory agency, federal, and state guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Test boot soles after visits to poultry houses to detect Salmonella and report positive results to growers and appropriate company personnel.
  • Partner with the Breeder Representative to develop and maintain relationships with contract growers and facilitate communication about flock housing, care, and feed expectations.
  • Maintain feed tank inventories, order feed, and coordinate deliveries to ensure feed is delivered to growers in a timely manner.
  • Check equipment at farms and communicate issues to growers or company personnel as needed.
  • Monitor and observe assigned flocks for non-compliant treatment and report animal welfare or farm issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage vaccine inventory by organizing, monitoring temperature, and delivering vaccines to contract vaccine crews; perform quality checks after vaccine application.
  • Assist with moving pullets to hen houses when needed.
  • Follow and promote safety initiatives.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous live poultry experience in a similar environment is preferred.
