Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
  • Board eligibility or board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure.
  • DEA registration or eligibility.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to manage a wide range of acute conditions efficiently.
  • Proficiency in office-based and minor surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinical environment.
  • Manual dexterity for procedures and examinations.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and communication.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with acute medical conditions and minor injuries.
  • Manage common urgent care presentations such as respiratory infections, gastrointestinal illnesses, musculoskeletal injuries, lacerations, burns, and minor trauma.
  • Perform procedures consistent with training and privileges, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, and wound care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, X-rays, and point-of-care testing.
  • Prescribe medications and provide treatment plans appropriate to urgent care settings.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Identify patients requiring higher levels of care and coordinate transfers to emergency departments or specialty services.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and support staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.
  • Work in urgent care centers with extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work a shift-based schedule.
