Requirements
  • At least 8 years of hands-on mechanical design experience delivering production machinery, automation, or aerospace hardware.
  • Expert-level SolidWorks skills, including large assemblies, complex parts, detailed drawings, and Product Data Management.
  • Deep command of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturability.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through setting standards, leading design reviews, and mentoring engineers.
  • Experience integrating mechanical designs with automation, motion control, and robotics.
  • A strong track record of taking designs from concept to qualified production hardware.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends during critical periods.
Responsibilities
  • Own the mechanical systems architecture for new automated production cells and equipment from concept through production release.
  • Set computer-aided design standards, manage top-level assemblies, and review drawings for manufacturability and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Lead design reviews and mentor senior, junior, and intern designers across the mechanical group.
  • Define mechanical requirements and run trade studies for fixtures, frames, motion stages, and machine structures.
  • Partner with controls and robotics engineers to integrate Beckhoff motion, programmable logic controllers, and ABB or Fanuc robotic systems into mechanical assemblies.
  • Drive design-for-manufacture and design-for-automation practices into every product the team touches.
  • Specify and source mechanical components, actuators, and hardware, and own key vendor technical relationships.
  • Support build, integration, qualification, and acceptance testing on the production floor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing end-effectors or end-of-arm tooling and precision-assembly tooling.
  • A background in high-rate or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ABB or Fanuc robotic cells and Beckhoff-based automation.
  • Experience with thin-film, photovoltaic or solar, or satellite component manufacturing.

E-Space creates and deploys small, easy-to-install devices that can be tracked and connected globally. Its E-Space LEO platform uses AIoT to optimize data from these devices, turning it into actionable insights and automation. They redesign spacecraft, antennas, and terminals to cut the cost of satellite systems and make space technology more accessible. Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Arlington broke ground October 3, 2025, backing a North American HQ.
  • Beyon’s Bahrain MoU extends E-Space’s IoT sales pipeline beyond Texas.
  • The US Defense Department awarded E-Space a communications demonstration contract in 2023.

What critics are saying

  • Only nine satellites launched by February 2026; commercial proof remains thin.
  • Arlington’s 480,000-square-foot campus finishes in spring 2027, delaying scale revenue.
  • Hundreds-of-thousands-satellite ambition needs capital, spectrum, and launch execution; one miss kills it.

What makes E-Space unique

  • Greg Wyler’s CommAgility acquisition gives E-Space 5G NTN software depth.
  • E-Space’s 2023–2026 pitch centers on sustainable, deorbit-capable LEO design.
  • Its AIoT stack targets direct device-to-cloud data, not dumb bandwidth.
