Requirements
  • Must have supervisory experience.
  • Must meet all state-specific requirements for background and education level.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain Basic Life Support certification.
  • Must have 6–8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of direct or related experience in a healthcare supervisory or administrative role.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of facility equipment and technology, including C-arm, patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, computers, and emergency equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the clinical facility to ensure clinical, operational, and business objectives are met.
  • Make daily decisions to ensure patient and staff safety and delegate tasks to the nursing leader where appropriate.
  • Develop a culture of trust, empowerment, and collaboration among center staff.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements applicable to the facility.
  • Assist the Medical Staff in ensuring medical practices and procedures meet applicable standards.
  • Ensure quality patient care and provide clinical reporting and operational oversight to the ASC Governing Body.
  • Manage site employees, the environment, clinical processes and procedures, and workflow to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with state requirements and licensure updates, including CLIA requirements, pharmacy requirements, and DEA anesthesia regulations.
  • Implement and maintain Environment of Care requirements for patient safety and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code compliance.
  • Plan personnel, equipment, and medications for medical emergencies; incorporate them into the Emergency Preparedness Plan and ensure equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure proper medical records management and HIPAA compliance.
  • Oversee the center's continuous, data-driven Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program, including collecting and analyzing data according to policy.
  • Develop facility-specific action plans using internal tools and feedback from external inspections to achieve ASC quality standards.
  • Manage general liability and risk exposures by conducting risk assessments and developing and implementing center-specific management plans.
  • Ensure adverse events are reported, documented, and followed up in compliance with policy and state requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, dialysis clinics, hospitals, and physicians to address concerns and issues.
  • Participate in Governing Body meetings, including coordinating meetings according to bylaws, preparing documentation, and maintaining meeting minutes.
  • Support the Medical Executive Committee as requested by the Medical Director and in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Maintain compliance with ASC regulations, CMS conditions for coverage, state regulations, and applicable accrediting-agency standards.
  • Review site business and finances, including financial reports, market trends, and staffing models, to improve efficiency, manage inventory and expenses, and optimize workflow.
  • Engage with the sales partner to develop strategies for finding new markets and developing new business opportunities.
  • Oversee front-desk staff and ensure adherence to scheduling, patient follow-up, data-integrity, process, and procedure requirements.
  • Ensure all staff meet the organization's customer-service standards.
  • Collaborate with ancillary departments to align center-specific and company-wide goals.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Partner to identify and visit local dialysis clinics as needed to provide information and education about vascular-access services for ESRD patients.
  • Create and continually enhance internal physician partnerships to optimize patient care and business outcomes.
  • Act as a liaison between local dialysis clinics, the Access Center, and physician practices to meet patient needs.
  • Facilitate physician-privilege applications and compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, including assisting with credentialing.
  • Coordinate inventory and supply management and vendor services to contain costs, ensure timely distribution and competitive pricing, and maintain facility security and integrity.
  • Manage medication, laboratory, inventory, supply, and equipment utilization to achieve annual budget cost goals.
  • Support billing, billing issues, and collection activities.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to meet patient needs and employee and patient safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist with patient care as needed and in accordance with professional licensure, if applicable.
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees to optimize performance in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Create an engaged and motivated culture to improve retention and employee morale.
  • Identify and address performance gaps according to company policy.
  • Drive employee performance reviews and employee engagement and recognition activities for the center.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring decisions for skilled staff.
  • Ensure appropriate training and oversight of all staff, including front-desk employees.
  • Ensure completion of employee training, including new-hire orientation, compliance training, and mandatory in-service training.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed, including current licensure.
Desired Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse background is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in outpatient healthcare operations or an ambulatory surgery center setting is preferred.
  • Experience obtaining and maintaining Medicare certification through an accrediting organization is desirable.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with medical database software is preferred.
