Requirements
  • A Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology or Doctor of Psychology degree is required, with American Psychological Association accreditation required.
  • Successful completion of an American Psychological Association-accredited psychology internship is required.
  • A Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • At least one year of independent clinical psychology practice in a mental health setting serving adults is required.
  • A current, full, active, and unrestricted psychologist license in any state is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide deployment health screening services to service members.
  • Participate in outreach for Post Deployment Health Reassessment programs.
  • Screen patients, provide treatment when appropriate, educate returning units about service availability, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Communicate with line commanders about the clinic and clarify service eligibility.
  • Participate in educational sessions for returning units about the realities of readjusting to life after deployment.
  • Ensure service members requiring follow-up appointments have those appointments scheduled before leaving the Deployment Clinic.
  • Treat mental health conditions including post-traumatic stress disorders and other combat-related psychological symptoms.
  • Travel within a 50-mile radius of the hospital for temporary clinic service or off-site training when required.
