Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering is required.
  • One to two years of experience in a supply chain or procurement function is required, preferably in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulas, is required.
  • At least two years of experience working with SAP or comparable enterprise resource planning systems is required.
  • Intermediate computer and technical skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite, are required.
  • The candidate must be able to solve problems creatively and implement solutions.
  • The candidate must be able to build and maintain productive relationships with key business partners.
  • The candidate must be able to make decisions using information, analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are required.
  • Planning, organizing, multitasking, and time-management skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats and adapt communication style to the audience.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize purchasing requirements for direct materials, including packaging materials and ingredients, required for production.
  • Ensure the timely availability and efficient allocation of materials across manufacturing sites by assessing requirements against available inventory.
  • Monitor industry trends and lead times to mitigate supply risk.
  • Determine material requirements for an assigned portfolio of material items.
  • Create, review, and communicate purchase orders and contracts to vendor partners.
  • Follow up on the movement of goods to ensure materials arrive on time and in full.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement projects involving sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Maintain data integrity by validating and confirming system data with stakeholders.
  • Support updates to SAP master data, including contracts, purchase orders, and material- and vendor-specific master data.
  • Evaluate purchasing options to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Track internal key performance indicators, including inventory values, inventory turns, and other inventory metrics.
  • Monitor product demand to avoid supply shortages.
  • Track and manage releases of vendor-managed inventory as required.
  • Collaborate with research and development, transportation, marketing, packaging engineering, and planning teams to manage supply-chain challenges and opportunities.
  • Initiate, cultivate, and enhance relationships with vendor partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Learn existing procurement systems and processes, including materials, suppliers, ordering dynamics, and invoice management.
  • Learn basic functions of at least three related departments, such as supply planning, demand planning, production planning, food safety and quality assurance, accounts payable, and logistics.
  • Develop two to three opportunities to improve processes, systems, or tools.
  • Meet established inventory targets for assigned materials and categories.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the company’s core values, mission, and vision.
